Fitness: cardio fitness (VO₂max) compared with people your age, from 20
Recovery: your resting heart rate compared with the average
Sleep: full from 7 hours, long sleep costs nothing
Sleep timing: how evenly you fall asleep and wake up – only nights from a watch or ring
Nutrition: how balanced you eat and how well your vitamins are covered
Strength training: from your watch or logged by you, up to 1.5 years
Vigorous minutes: running, cycling or intervals from your watch workouts, up to 1.5 years
How it’s calculated
Large studies link steps, sleep, resting heart rate, fitness and food with a long life
The app turns this into years with a published method (Spiegelhalter, 2016), compared with the average for your age, and takes off what overlaps – at most 10 years either way
Missing areas count zero years – the app doesn’t estimate them
Activity and sleep count from 20 of the 30 days, resting heart rate and food from 10
What doesn’t count
Weight, smoking, alcohol, blood values and HRV
Eating less never brings years – food only counts on days with at least half your calorie goal
Only what the app measures or you log – and what you can change day to day
Frequently asked questions
What is the SmarTasty Age?
Your calendar age plus the years your habits add or take away: activity, fitness, resting heart rate, sleep and food from your last 30 days. It shows from three areas, activity always included, and is new every Monday.
How is the SmarTasty Age calculated?
Large studies show how strongly steps, sleep, resting heart rate, fitness and food are linked to a long life. We turn that into years with a published method (Spiegelhalter, 2016) – compared with the average for your age: if you move, sleep and eat like most people, you land at your calendar age. At most 10 years below or above.
Is this my biological age?
No. The SmarTasty Age doesn’t measure anything in your body and doesn’t predict how long you’ll live. It’s a guide for everyday life: it shows how your habits compare with the average for your age.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No, but Apple Health: your iPhone counts your steps, and activity is always included. With a sleep schedule and your food, that’s three areas. Without a watch, activity makes you at most 2 years older, because your iPhone doesn’t count every step. With a watch, resting heart rate, fitness, sleep timing and vigorous minutes are added.
Does my weight count?
No. Weight, smoking, alcohol and blood values don’t count, and eating less never brings years. Strength training brings up to 1.5 years – skipping it costs nothing.
Is the SmarTasty Age free?
Yes, your SmarTasty Age is free – with the area that helps most and the preview for Monday. With Premium you see the years per area, which step brings how many years, periods from 7 days to 1 year and your trend.
From what age can I see my SmarTasty Age?
From 18. You need a free account and your birthdate in your profile.
