How we counted

  • Basis: all public, approved recipes on 13 October 2026 (3,882).
  • Nutrition: calculated from the ingredients, per serving, estimates. Median rather than average, so single outliers (a whole cake) don’t skew anything.
  • Time: prep plus cooking, as stated in the recipe.
  • Number of ingredients: lines in the ingredient list without sub-headings (“salt and pepper” is one line).
  • Vegan and vegetarian: set from the ingredients by our fixed rules (vegetarian includes vegan).
  • Ingredients: word search in the ingredient lines of the original German recipes. Headings and negations (“without onions”) don’t count. Paprika powder doesn’t count as a vegetable, tomato purée not as tomato.
  • Percentages: share of all 3,882 recipes; for nutrition, share of recipes with a value (calories 3,882, protein 3,880).
  • Rounded, so totals can be off by 0.1 points. Recipes added after 13 October 2026 aren’t included.
