Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: saucepan · chopping board · knife · mixing bowl · sieve · wooden spoon

  1. Put the oats and oat milk into a small pan. Stir in the turmeric, cinnamon and black pepper.
  2. Warm everything over a medium heat and simmer, stirring now and then. This way the porridge gradually turns creamy.
  3. As soon as it has the consistency you like, take the pan off the hob. Stir in the honey.
  4. Roughly chop the walnuts. Briefly rinse the blueberries if needed and drain.
  5. Spoon the porridge into a bowl and leave to rest briefly so it thickens a little more.
  6. Serve with the walnuts and blueberries.

Good to know

When something warm hits the spot in the morning, this porridge is just right. It's gently spiced, creamy and warming.

Swaps

Oat milk → unsweetened almond milk (usually a little thinner and mild; contains tree nuts) | Walnuts → almonds (more vitamin E) | Blueberries → raspberries (more fibre) | Honey → date purée (sweetness plus a little extra fibre)

Allergens

Contains walnuts (tree nuts). Oats contain gluten unless labelled gluten-free – use the gluten-free oats and oat milk listed. For children, season mildly, chop the nuts small and remember: no honey for babies under one year old; in pregnancy, the ingredients are generally fine in normal amounts.
