Vegetarian air fryer French toast sticks made with wholemeal spelt bread, egg and cinnamon, served with raspberries and skyr with maple syrup. A breakfast with 25.6 g protein per serving.
You’ll need: air fryer · chopping board · knife
French toast for dipping: day-old bread becomes golden sticks that go straight into skyr and raspberries. A breakfast that children and grown-ups polish off equally fast.
Wholemeal spelt bread → wholemeal rye bread (heartier). Milk → oat milk. Raspberries → blueberries (sweeter). Skyr → yoghurt (milder).
Day-old bread soaks up the egg mixture better and doesn't fall apart. Let frozen raspberries thaw a little first, then they turn into a sauce when you mash them.
Best fresh; leftover sticks keep for a day in the fridge and crisp up again in the air fryer in 3 minutes.
Contains gluten, egg and milk; suitable for children. In pregnancy, cook until no liquid egg comes out, and bring frozen raspberries briefly to the boil first.
