Vegan mango, passion fruit and orange juice: a fruity juice made from mango, passion fruit and freshly squeezed oranges. Tropical, fresh and pleasantly tart for warm days.
You’ll need: blender · chopping board · knife · sieve
A glass like this tastes of sunshine and a bit of holiday. The fresh acidity makes it lively without being complicated.
Passion fruits → fresh orange + a little lemon juice (more juice, plenty of vitamin C, usually milder and easier to find) Ice cubes → frozen mango cubes (chill without watering down, provide fibre and natural fruit flavour) Ice cubes → chilled coconut water frozen into ice cubes (chills without diluting the flavour as much; provides electrolytes) Passion fruits → unsweetened sea buckthorn purée, used sparingly (a lot of vitamin C, an intensely fruity, tart note)
Passion fruit is not one of the major allergens, but in rare cases it can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people; in normal amounts it is generally suitable for children and during pregnancy, as long as you get on with it.
Passion fruit provides vitamin C, though usually not as much as some citrus fruits for the same amount. For a fruit drink, it is still a relevant source.
Yes, the seeds are edible. They add crunch, a little fibre and small amounts of unsaturated fats.
That's individual. The natural acidity can feel intense to sensitive people, especially on an empty stomach.
Passion fruit contains moderate amounts of potassium, among other things. On top of that come smaller amounts of other minerals such as magnesium and iron.
Yes, especially if the pulp and some of the seeds go into it. If you sieve the juice a lot, though, less of it remains.
