Ingredients
250g silken tofu
2 mandarins
2 tbsp almond butter
2 tbsp hemp seeds
100ml almond milk
Method
You’ll need: blender · sieve
Peel the mandarins and separate them into segments. Carefully pour off the water from the silken tofu.
Put the silken tofu and mandarins in the blender. Then add the almond butter, hemp seeds and almond milk.
Blend everything briefly on low, then on high. That way the smoothie turns evenly creamy.
Keep blending until the hemp seeds are worked in as finely as possible and there's no coarse grit left. If needed, scrape the mixture down from the sides in between.
Check the consistency and add a little more almond milk if needed. Blend briefly once more.
Serve the smoothie straight away, well chilled, in a glass.
Good to know
When mornings need to be quick, this smoothie is a pleasantly unhurried option. Creamy, fresh and satisfying.
Swaps
Almond butter → cashew butter (milder flavour, similarly creamy) | Almond milk → unsweetened oat milk (a little more fibre, depending on the product; contains gluten unless certified gluten-free) | Hemp seeds → ground linseed (more fibre) | Mandarins → orange (similar vitamin C content)
Allergens
Contains soya and tree nuts (almond butter, almond milk). Hemp seeds don't suit everyone. Suitable for children in a small portion; during pregnancy the ingredients are normal as long as they're fresh and handled hygienically.
