Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender

  1. Wash the blueberries and put them in the blender with the banana.
  2. Add the coconut milk and a little cold water so the smoothie gets the right texture.
  3. Blend everything on high until the blueberries and banana are finely puréed and the mixture is creamy.
  4. Taste briefly and blend in a small splash more water if you'd like it runnier.
  5. Stir in the chia seeds and leave the smoothie to stand for a moment so they can swell slightly.
  6. Pour into a large glass and serve with a few blueberries.

Good to know

Sometimes a smoothie can just taste soft, cool and well-rounded. That's exactly how this glass feels: easy and really enjoyable.

Swaps

Banana → avocado (more monounsaturated fats, makes the smoothie especially creamy); coconut milk → almond butter plus water (more vitamin E and a nutty flavour); chia seeds → ground linseed (also contain fibre and plant omega-3 fatty acids); blueberries → blackberries (more fibre and a sharper flavour)

Allergens

The recipe is naturally vegan and usually suits children well; for small children the chia seeds should be well soaked, and during pregnancy the ingredients are unremarkable in normal kitchen amounts, as long as they agree with you.
