Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender

  1. Get the almond milk, vegan chocolate protein powder, almond butter, cocoa powder and ice cubes ready.
  2. Put all the ingredients in a blender. Make sure the almond butter doesn't stick to the side.
  3. Blend everything finely until the shake is creamy and even. If needed, blend again briefly so no lumps of powder remain.
  4. Check the consistency. For a thicker shake, blend in a little more ice; for a thinner one, add a splash of almond milk.
  5. Pour the shake straight into a glass and serve immediately.

Good to know

For when you want something chocolatey but still simple and easy. The shake is creamy, cool and quick to make. Just right when you want something satisfying in a glass.

Swaps

Almond milk → unsweetened oat milk (a few more carbohydrates, often milder in flavour; contains gluten unless certified gluten-free); almond butter → cashew butter (usually a little creamier, with a similar fat content); pea protein → rice protein (different amino acid profile, often more neutral); cocoa powder → carob powder (naturally milder and a little sweeter, with less caffeine and theobromine)

Allergens

Contains almonds and, depending on the protein powder, other allergens. For children, only sensible in small, age-appropriate amounts; during pregnancy the ingredients in normal kitchen amounts are usually no concern – if the protein powder has added extras, check the label. Contains: tree nuts (almonds).
