Wash the carrots, oranges, ginger and turmeric root thoroughly. Roughly chop the carrots and peel the oranges.
Peel the ginger and turmeric root if needed and cut into smaller pieces. That makes everything blend more evenly.
Put all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until fine. If it's too thick, add a little water.
For a smoother texture, press the juice through a fine sieve or cloth. If you like more pulp, you can also leave it unstrained.
Taste and, if needed, balance with a little more orange. The juice should taste fresh, slightly sweet and gently spicy.
Pour into glasses and serve straight away. It's especially nice well chilled or with a few ice cubes.
Good to know
A glass like this tastes bright from the very first sip. Fresh, sunny and pleasantly spicy – just right for a clear start to the day.
Swaps
Juicing oranges → blood oranges (similar vitamin C content, slightly more bitter); turmeric root → a little more ginger (more heat, also contains plant compounds); carrots → yellow carrots (similar fibre, milder flavour); orange → mandarin (slightly sweeter, also contains vitamin C)
Allergens
The recipe is naturally free from most major allergens. Ginger and turmeric can be very intense for small children; during pregnancy normal cooking amounts are common, but high-dose extracts are not the same thing.
