Drain the tuna well and flake it finely with a fork in a bowl.
Add the cream cheese and stir thoroughly until creamy.
Roughly chop the capers and fold them into the spread with the lemon juice.
Finely chop the dill and mix it in. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Leave the spread for a little while so the flavours come together.
Serve on fresh bread, cucumber slices or crackers (choose ones without seed oils). Keep leftovers well chilled and eat within two days.
Good to know
A spread like this rescues those little hungry moments in a busy day. Creamy, salty, fresh – and on the table in a few minutes.
Swaps
Cream cheese → Greek yoghurt (more protein, tangier) | tuna → tinned wild salmon (more omega-3 fatty acids) | capers → finely chopped gherkins (milder; some are fermented, depending on the product) | bread → cucumber slices or celery sticks (fresher, fewer carbs; celery is an allergen)
Allergens
Contains fish and milk. Fine for children if it isn't too salty for them. In pregnancy, make it fresh, keep it well chilled and only eat tuna occasionally (mercury).
