Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: frying pan · saucepan · chopping board · knife · sieve · wooden spoon

  1. Trim fresh green beans and blanch briefly in salted water, then drain. You can use frozen green beans straight away.
  2. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Fry the beef mince with the onion in hot sesame oil in a large frying pan over a high heat until crumbly and browned.
  3. Add the garlic, green beans and black pepper. Keep frying over a medium heat until the beans are cooked but still slightly crisp.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce and toss the pan well. Leave for a moment so the flavours come together.
  5. Taste and add a little more black pepper if needed.
  6. Serve the beef mince and green bean pan-fry hot.

Good to know

A dish like this is made for tired evenings. Little effort, lots of flavour, and the pan is on the table in no time.

Swaps

Sesame oil → olive oil (mainly monounsaturated fatty acids); soy sauce → tamari (usually gluten-free, similarly savoury); beef mince → turkey mince (also provides protein); green beans → broccoli (also provides vitamin C and fibre).

Allergens

Soy sauce contains wheat as well as soya; tamari is a gluten-free alternative. Season mildly for children, and in pregnancy the dish is fine as long as the beef mince is cooked right through. Contains: sesame, soya, gluten (soy sauce).
