Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender · chopping board · knife · sieve

  1. Halve the pomegranate crossways and tap out the seeds with a spoon.
  2. Peel the orange so thoroughly that no white pith is left.
  3. Put the pomegranate seeds, orange flesh and water in the blender.
  4. Blend everything for about 10 seconds on a medium setting, so the flesh is broken up but the seeds aren't.
  5. Quickly pour everything through a metal sieve and catch the juice in a glass.

Good to know

This colour combination really stands out. The juice tastes every bit as bright and elegant as it looks in the glass.

Swaps

Orange → blood orange (the dark blood orange not only deepens the already great colour but also adds anthocyanins, its red plant pigments).

Cooking tips

If you take the pomegranate seeds out under water in a large bowl, you'll avoid fierce red splashes all over the kitchen.

Storage

Juices with lots of vitamin C oxidise at lightning speed. Ideally, drink this red juice straight after you've made it.

Allergens

Completely gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan. Contains none of the main allergens.
