Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender

  1. If you're using a banana, freeze it in pieces beforehand. That makes the smoothie especially creamy and cold.
  2. Put the banana, Medjool dates, milk, peanut butter, cocoa powder and a pinch of sea salt into the blender.
  3. Blend everything on high until the dates are finely chopped and the texture looks smooth and frothy.
  4. Check the texture and blend a little longer if needed, until the smoothie is evenly creamy.
  5. Pour the peanut butter and chocolate smoothie into a large glass.
  6. To serve: sprinkle with chopped peanuts or a little cocoa powder if you like and enjoy straight away.

Good to know

Tastes like dessert in a glass but stays pleasantly simple. Just the thing when you want something creamy and chocolatey.

Swaps

Milk → unsweetened almond milk (dairy-free; contains tree nuts); peanut butter → almond butter (also provides unsaturated fatty acids; contains tree nuts); Medjool dates → unsweetened soft dried apricots (also bring natural sweetness and fibre); cocoa powder → carob powder (milder, naturally sweeter and caffeine-free)

Allergens

Contains milk and peanuts. For children, check that they tolerate it and that the texture suits them; in pregnancy the ingredients are generally everyday foods – if you have allergies or are unsure, get individual advice.
