Method

You’ll need: oven · baking dish · chopping board · knife · mixing bowl

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (160 °C fan). Core the apples, cut them into rough chunks with the skin on and toss them well with the cinnamon.
  2. Spread the spiced apple pieces evenly over the base of a small, shallow baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, rub the almond flour, chopped walnuts, soft coconut oil and maple syrup together with your hands to make a crumbly topping.
  4. Scatter the nut crumble generously and evenly over the raw apples.
  5. Bake the dessert in the hot oven for 25 minutes, until the apples are soft and the nuts on top are toasted golden brown.

Good to know

Soft cinnamon apples with a crunchy topping made from pure walnuts. This crumble is real comfort food for cool evenings.

Swaps

Maple syrup → yacon syrup (to cut the carbs even further – it goes really well with the tartness of the apples).

Cooking tips

Use firm, tart apple varieties such as Boskoop or Braeburn. They don't collapse completely into purée when baked and keep their texture.

Storage

Reheated the next day, the cinnamon soaks into the apples even more. You can easily warm the crumble up again in the oven.

Allergens

Contains tree nuts (almonds, walnuts). Fully vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free.
