Ingredients
300ml milk kefir
150g frozen mixed berries
½ banana
1 tbsp ground linseed
1 tsp honey
Method
You’ll need: blender
Shake the milk kefir briefly and pour it into the blender.
Add the frozen mixed berries, the banana, the ground linseed and the honey.
Start the blender briefly on a low setting first, so the ingredients combine well.
Then blend hard until the smoothie is smooth, creamy and evenly purple.
If it's too thick, add a little more kefir and blend again briefly.
Pour into glasses and serve straight away, well chilled.
Good to know
When mornings need to be quick, a glass like this is just right. Fruity, cool and nicely creamy – without much effort.
Swaps
Milk kefir → natural yoghurt with a splash of water (milder flavour, also with protein) | Honey → date paste (unrefined sweetness, plus a little fibre) | Banana → avocado (less sugar, more monounsaturated fatty acids instead) | Linseed → oats (gentle binding, plus fibre)
Allergens
Contains milk; linseed is usually well tolerated, finely blended is more pleasant for small children, and in pregnancy pasteurised kefir is considered the safe choice.
