Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender · chopping board · knife

  1. Halve the avocado, remove the stone and scoop the flesh out of the skin. Wash the baby spinach thoroughly.
  2. Put the banana in the blender jug together with the avocado, baby spinach, matcha powder and honey.
  3. Pour in the almond milk, put the lid on and start blending briefly on a low setting.
  4. Then blend until fine and creamy, until the smoothie is evenly pale green and smooth. If it's too thick for you, blend in a little more almond milk.
  5. Taste once more and adjust the sweetness or consistency if needed.
  6. Pour into a glass and serve straight away.

Good to know

When it needs to be quick, a green smoothie like this is simply nice to have. Creamy, mild and with a delicate matcha note instead of cloying sweetness.

Swaps

Almond milk → unsweetened oat milk (often milder in flavour; contains gluten unless labelled gluten-free); honey → date paste (also provides fibre); banana → mango (provides vitamin C, fruitier); baby spinach → lamb's lettuce (stronger flavour, also provides folate).

Allergens

Contains tree nuts (almond milk). For children, only small amounts because of the caffeine in matcha, and no honey for babies under one year old; in pregnancy, count the matcha towards your caffeine limit.
