Break the broccoli into small florets, peel the stalk and dice it finely.
Cook the broccoli briefly in salted water, then drain well.
Whisk the eggs, cream, garlic and nutmeg thoroughly in a bowl.
Put the broccoli in a baking dish, pour the egg and cream mixture over it and sprinkle with the grated cheese.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan) for 20–25 min, until the top is golden brown and the mixture has set.
Leave to rest briefly and serve warm.
Good to know
A bake like this takes little effort and still feels like a proper meal. Creamy, savoury and just right when you want to keep things simple.
Swaps
Whipping cream → crème fraîche (a little more calcium, usually a bit thicker) | grated cheese → mozzarella (milder, often slightly higher in protein) | broccoli → cauliflower (similarly low in carbs, also contains fibre) | whipping cream → coconut milk (dairy-free, with a different fat profile)
Allergens
Contains milk and eggs. Usually well suited to children if the garlic is kept mild. During pregnancy, serve it well baked so the eggs are fully set.
