Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C fan). Divide the broccoli into small florets and blanch briefly in salted water, then drain well.
Cut the chicken breast into small pieces. Peel the garlic and crush it.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and fry the chicken with the garlic until lightly browned.
Put the chicken and broccoli in a baking dish. Stir the cream with salt and nutmeg and pour it over the top.
Grate the cheddar, sprinkle it over the bake and bake everything at 200 °C for 15–20 min until the top is golden brown.
Serve the bake hot, straight from the oven. A green salad with olive oil goes very well with it.
Good to know
A bake like this makes the end of the working day easier. Warm, creamy and pleasantly uncomplicated. Just right when you want something tasty without much effort.
Swaps
Cheddar → Alpine cheese (such as Gruyère; similar protein content, stronger flavour); cream → crème fraîche (a little more fat, very creamy); chicken breast → skinless chicken thighs (juicier, a little more iron and fat); broccoli → cauliflower (mild, low to moderate fibre and also works well for low carb)
Allergens
Contains milk from the cream and cheddar; usually well suited to children if the garlic is used sparingly, and fine during pregnancy if the chicken is cooked through and the dairy products are pasteurised.
