Ingredients
400 g beef mince
2 avocados
1 tomato
1 onion
1 tbsp olive oil
1 pinch of salt
Method
You’ll need: frying pan · chopping board · knife
Shape the beef mince with the salt into patties of equal size and press them down lightly.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and fry the patties on both sides until browned outside and cooked through inside.
Peel the onion and cut it into thin slices along with the tomato.
Halve the avocados, remove the stones and scoop out a little flesh if needed to make more room for the filling.
Set the patties into the avocado halves and top with tomato and onion.
Serve the avocado burgers as soon as they're assembled, while the patties are still warm and the avocado is fresh.
Good to know
When you want something hearty that doesn't feel heavy, this recipe is just right. Creamy, savoury and pleasantly uncomplicated on the plate.
Swaps
Beef mince → lamb mince (similar protein content, stronger flavour); tomato → cucumber (milder and more watery, with very few carbs); onion → chives (more delicate); olive oil → ghee (heat-stable and aromatic; contains milk)
Allergens
The recipe is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free; if raw onion is too sharp for children or in pregnancy, soften it briefly in the pan first. In pregnancy, cook the patties right through, with no pink left.
