Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: waffle iron · mixing bowl

  1. Stir the almond flour, eggs, low-fat quark, cinnamon and honey together in a bowl to make a smooth, fairly thick batter.
  2. Preheat the waffle iron and grease the plates with melted coconut oil.
  3. Spoon the batter into the waffle iron in portions and spread it out a little if needed.
  4. Cook the waffles until they are golden brown and come away easily from the iron.
  5. Let the finished waffles steam off briefly so the surface stays firm.
  6. Serve the warm waffles straight away, plain or with a dollop of quark.

Good to know

These waffles are simple and really cosy. Golden brown on the outside, soft inside – just right when you want something uncomplicated and satisfying.

Swaps

Low-fat quark → Greek yoghurt (a little more fat, often a creamier texture); less sweet: halve the honey and round it off with cinnamon, vanilla or a few berries; coconut oil → ghee (buttery flavour, stable when heated); almond flour → hazelnut flour (similar nutrition, nuttier flavour)

Allergens

Contains egg, milk and tree nuts; usually well suited to children if they tolerate nuts, and generally fine during pregnancy – just don't overdo the cinnamon.
