Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender

  1. Put the milk and low-fat quark in the blender.
  2. Wash the blackberries and add them with the oats.
  3. Blend everything for longer than 1 min, until the blackberry seeds are as fine as possible.
  4. Check the consistency and add a splash of water if needed, in case the quark makes the shake too thick.
  5. Serve the shake well chilled in a large glass.

Good to know

Protein powder is often expensive and tastes artificial. Low-fat quark is the natural alternative for anyone who prefers real food.

Swaps

Low-fat quark → skyr (Icelandic skyr tastes a little milder but has an almost identical, great nutrient profile).

Cooking tips

If you don't like the tiny blackberry seeds in your drink, push the blended shake through a kitchen sieve.

Storage

Casein thickens a lot over time. After half a day in the fridge, this shake turns into a pudding you can eat with a spoon.

Allergens

Contains milk. For a gluten-free diet, you need to use special oats certified as gluten-free.
