At a glance

Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: frying pan · chopping board · knife · wooden spoon

  1. Finely chop the garlic and cut the cucumber into small cubes. Wash the lettuce leaves, dry them well and set them aside for filling.
  2. Heat the sesame oil in a frying pan and fry the beef mince over a high heat until crumbly. Stir regularly so it browns evenly.
  3. Add the garlic to the mince and fry briefly. Stir in the soy sauce and toss everything until the meat is full of flavour and juicy.
  4. Lay the lettuce leaves on plates and spoon the hot mince on top. Scatter over the diced cucumber.
  5. Season to taste with lime juice and black pepper. Leave to stand briefly so the flavours come together.
  6. Serve immediately and fold the lettuce leaves up like little tacos or wraps.

Good to know

When it needs to be quick but still fresh, these wraps are just right. Warm, savoury mince meets cool cucumber and crisp lettuce. Simple and really good.

Swaps

Sesame oil → olive oil (mainly monounsaturated fats) | Soy sauce → tamari (gluten-free alternative with a similar flavour) | Butterhead lettuce → romaine (a little crunchier, also provides fibre) | Beef mince → chicken mince (similar protein content)

Allergens

Contains soya and gluten (soy sauce) and sesame (sesame oil). For children, season more mildly and cook the mince right through; in pregnancy too, only eat it cooked right through and keep to good kitchen hygiene.
