Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: mixing bowl · whisk

  1. Let the butter soften at room temperature.
  2. Put the hazelnut butter and cocoa powder in a deep bowl.
  3. Add the butter and honey.
  4. Beat everything vigorously with a whisk until the spread is smooth and glossy.
  5. If the spread is still too stiff, set the bowl over a pan of warm water for a moment and keep stirring.
  6. Spoon the spread into a small jar and eat it straight from there.

Good to know

Shop-bought hazelnut chocolate spreads without sugar are often expensive. You can stir together a very good low-carb version yourself in a few minutes.

Swaps

Butter → cacao butter (cacao butter is purely plant-based, but it makes the spread firm at room temperature).

Cooking tips

Buy pure hazelnut butter with the oil floating on top. Stir the butter in the jar thoroughly before you weigh it.

Storage

Don't keep the spread in the fridge – the butter turns hard and the spread loses its creaminess.

Allergens

Contains milk (butter) and tree nuts (hazelnut). Completely gluten-free.
