Ingredients
200ml kefir (plain)
150g blueberries (frozen)
1 tbsp ground linseed
1/2 banana
50ml water
1 tsp vanilla extract
Method
You’ll need: blender
Put the banana and blueberries in the blender. Frozen fruit makes the smoothie especially cold and creamy.
Add the kefir, ground linseed and vanilla extract. Blend everything briefly so the ingredients combine well.
Blend on high until the smoothie is even and smooth. The linseed should be well distributed.
If the consistency is too thick, add a little water. Blend again briefly until the smoothie is pleasantly runny.
Taste and adjust the creaminess with the blending time if needed. That way the smoothie turns out just the way you like it.
Serve ice-cold straight away and drink it fresh.
Good to know
When you want something light but still well-rounded in the morning, this smoothie is just right. Creamy, cool and pleasantly fruity. So simple that it really works on busy days.
Swaps
Kefir → natural yoghurt or coconut kefir (similarly creamy, fermented depending on the product) | blueberries → raspberries (more fibre, a little tarter) | banana → avocado (less sugar, but more monounsaturated fatty acids) | linseed → chia seeds (also fibre)
Allergens
Contains milk; only suitable for small children with adjustments because of whole or poorly blended seeds, and during pregnancy pasteurised kefir is the safer choice.
