Ingredients
1 sweet apple
30 g gluten-free oats
100 g natural yoghurt
150 ml milk
0.5 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp honey
1 pinch of nutmeg
Method
You’ll need: blender · chopping board · knife
Wash and core the apple and cut it into rough chunks. You can leave the skin on if you like the slightly finer texture.
Put the apple, natural yoghurt, milk and oats into a blender. Add the cinnamon, honey and a pinch of nutmeg.
Blend everything on high until the smoothie is creamy and even. If it seems too thick, add another small splash of milk.
Leave it to stand briefly so the oats can swell a little. This makes the texture a bit rounder.
Blend briefly once more if you want it especially smooth.
Pour into a glass and serve with a little cinnamon.
Good to know
Sometimes breakfast can just be quietly good. This smoothie is creamy, gently spiced and pleasantly filling.
Swaps
Natural yoghurt → Greek yoghurt (more protein, creamier texture); Milk → kefir (fermented, some brands with added cultures); Honey → date paste (adds a little fibre); Oats → gluten-free millet flakes (mild, naturally gluten-free)
Allergens
Contains milk; if you have coeliac disease, make sure the oats are explicitly labelled gluten-free. For children, blend it finely and use only a little honey, and during pregnancy pasteurised yoghurt and a small amount of nutmeg are fine.
