Creamy matcha and banana protein shake

Creamy matcha and banana protein shake with frozen banana, almond milk, vegan vanilla protein powder and matcha – cool, gently sweet and quickly blended.

Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender · chopping board · knife

  1. Peel the banana, cut it into pieces and freeze until firm. This makes the shake especially creamy and cold.
  2. Put the almond milk and matcha powder into the blender first and blend briefly. This helps avoid lumps.
  3. Add the frozen banana, vegan vanilla protein powder, maple syrup and ice cubes.
  4. Blend everything on high until the shake is thick, smooth and slightly frothy. Adjust with a little almond milk if needed.
  5. Taste briefly and fine-tune the sweetness or consistency to your liking.

Good to know

When things need to be quick, this shake is my quiet favourite. Creamy, fresh and pleasantly gentle in flavour. Matcha and banana go together surprisingly well.

Swaps

Almond milk → unsweetened coconut milk from a carton (often a little milder in flavour); maple syrup → date paste (also brings a little fibre); vegan vanilla protein powder → unsweetened pea protein plus vanilla (often a shorter ingredient list); banana → frozen mango (also gives a creamy texture, but a little fruitier).

Allergens

Contains tree nuts (almond milk) and, depending on the protein powder, other allergens such as soya; only partly suitable for children because of the caffeine in matcha, and during pregnancy keep an eye on your total caffeine intake.
