Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: blender

  1. Put the avocado flesh in the blender. Make sure it's nice and soft and ripe so the smoothie turns out especially creamy.
  2. Add the banana, cocoa and maple syrup. This way the cocoa will be distributed more evenly later.
  3. Pour in the almond milk and blend everything thoroughly. Keep blending until there are no more pieces to be seen.
  4. Check the consistency and add a little water or more almond milk if needed. For extra freshness, chill the smoothie briefly or blend it with ice cubes.
  5. Taste the smoothie. If you like it a bit stronger, a little more cocoa works well.
  6. Pour the creamy chocolate avocado smoothie into a glass and serve straight away.

Good to know

When you need something fast, a smoothie like this is simply nice. It's creamy, chocolatey and almost feels a bit like dessert in a glass.

Swaps

Almond milk → tinned coconut milk diluted with water (more natural fats, especially creamy texture); maple syrup → date paste (also adds a little fibre); banana → frozen cauliflower (less sweet, neutral flavour); cocoa → raw cacao powder (slightly stronger flavour)

Allergens

Contains tree nuts from the almond milk, so it's unsuitable for people with an almond allergy. Usually fine for children in small portions, and fine in normal amounts in pregnancy – choose unsweetened, pasteurised plant milk. Contains: tree nuts.
