Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C fan) and have a small baking dish ready. Pat the feta dry and put it in the middle.
Cut the figs into quarters and arrange them around the feta. Drizzle with olive oil and season with pepper.
Drizzle the honey over the feta and lay the thyme on top.
Bake everything for about 15 min, until the feta is soft and coloured at the edges. The figs should be warm and juicy.
Scatter the walnuts over towards the end of the baking time so they stay crunchy.
Serve the baked feta straight from the dish, with a little thyme on top if you like.
Good to know
This dish feels special but is pleasantly easy. Warm, salty, soft and slightly sweet – exactly the kind of oven recipe that's ready for the table straight away.
Swaps
Feta → goat's cheese (similar protein content, often a little stronger in flavour); honey → maple syrup (milder, caramel-like sweetness); walnuts → pecans (milder, also with unsaturated fats); thyme → rosemary (savoury, pleasantly intense)
Allergens
Contains milk and walnuts. For children only in small, easy-to-chew portions because of the nuts, and in pregnancy make it with pasteurised sheep's cheese.
