Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: oven · air fryer · baking dish · chopping board · knife

  1. Cut a lid off the top of each pear and scoop out the core with a melon baller or teaspoon.
  2. Finely chop the walnuts and dates and knead them with the cinnamon and softened butter.
  3. Fill the pears with the mixture, put the lids back on and stand them in a baking dish. Pour in the water.
  4. Bake the pears in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan) for 25 to 30 minutes, until soft. In the air fryer they need about 15 to 18 minutes at 180 °C.
  5. Stir the yoghurt with the vanilla seeds and honey until smooth and serve with the warm baked pears.

Good to know

Everyone knows baked apples; baked pears are the softer, more fragrant version. The filling of dates and walnuts tastes like marzipan without containing any.

Swaps

Pears → apples such as Bramley (classic baked apple). Walnuts → almonds. Yoghurt → skyr (also provides protein). Butter → coconut oil (vegan with soya yoghurt and maple syrup instead of honey).

Cooking tips

Cut a thin slice off the bottom so the pears stand upright. The water in the dish stops the juice that runs out from burning.

Storage

Baked pears keep for 2 days in the fridge and also taste good cold for breakfast.

Allergens

Contains walnuts (tree nuts) and milk; no honey for children under one year old, and fine in pregnancy.
