Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: oven · chopping board · knife

  1. Preheat the grill. Score the banana lengthways along the top without cutting all the way through, and leave the skin on.
  2. Gently pull the skin apart at the opening. Roughly break up the dark chocolate.
  3. Push the chocolate into the slit in the banana. Place the banana on baking paper or foil.
  4. Bake the banana for 8–10 min until the skin darkens and the chocolate has melted. Then leave to cool briefly.
  5. Roughly chop the almonds.
  6. Put the baked banana on a plate, sprinkle with almonds and spoon the soft filling straight out of the skin.

Good to know

When you want something warm, soft and a little chocolatey, this dessert is just right. It's quick, feels cosy and takes hardly any effort.

Swaps

Almonds → walnuts (contain omega-3 fatty acids); dark chocolate → cacao nibs (unsweetened, intense cocoa flavour); almonds → hazelnuts (also contain vitamin E); dark chocolate → unsweetened almond butter (creamier, with unsaturated fats)

Allergens

Contains almonds (tree nuts); dark chocolate can contain milk or soya, so check the label and choose a dairy-free one for a vegan version. Good for children as long as the banana isn't served too hot; in pregnancy, no problem.
