Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: frying pan · chopping board · knife · wooden spoon

  1. Finely chop the garlic, ginger and red chilli. Wash the lettuce, spin it dry and carefully separate the leaves.
  2. Heat a little olive oil or avocado oil in a frying pan and fry the organic beef mince until crumbly. Add the garlic, ginger and chilli and fry briefly until everything smells fragrant.
  3. Stir in the tamari and lime juice and let the mixture reduce briefly. Season with the toasted sesame seeds.
  4. Arrange the lettuce leaves on a platter and let the warm mince filling cool for a moment. That way the leaves stay crisp and are easier to fill.
  5. If you like, finish with fresh herbs or a little extra lime juice. Carry on straight away while it's warm.
  6. To serve, spoon the mince mixture into the lettuce leaves and eat them as wraps with your hands.

Good to know

When it needs to be quick but still fresh and full of flavour, wraps like these are a favourite of mine. Warm mince, crisp lettuce, lots of flavour – without any fuss.

Swaps

Organic beef mince → turkey mince (a little leaner, similar protein content); tamari → coconut aminos (usually milder and a little less salty); sesame seeds → chopped walnuts (more omega-3 fatty acids); lime juice → rice vinegar (gentle acidity).

Allergens

Contains soya and sesame; the chilli may be too hot for children, and during pregnancy the dish is fine as long as the beef mince is cooked all the way through.
