Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: frying pan · chopping board · knife

  1. Core the apples and cut them into even rings.
  2. Stir the quark with the egg, vanilla protein powder and cinnamon to a smooth, fairly thick batter.
  3. Dip the apple rings in the batter so they're lightly coated all over.
  4. Heat the coconut oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and fry the apple rings on both sides until golden brown.
  5. Leave the rings on a plate for a moment so the coating can firm up a little.
  6. Serve the apple cinnamon rings warm, with a little extra cinnamon if you like.

Good to know

Sometimes a sweet snack just needs to be simple and good. These apple cinnamon rings are warm, soft and on the plate in no time.

Swaps

Quark → skyr (similar protein content, often a little lower in fat); vanilla protein powder → more quark (less processed, milder flavour); coconut oil → ghee (stable at high heat, buttery flavour); egg → liquid egg white from the chilled aisle (no yolk, so less fat).

Allergens

Contains milk and egg; depending on the protein powder, other allergens may be present. Generally suitable for children if the texture and sweetness suit them; during pregnancy, eat them well heated through.
