Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: air fryer · saucepan · chopping board · knife

  1. Cook the rice according to the packet instructions. Warm the honey, chilli flakes and apple cider vinegar in a small pan for 2 min without letting it boil – that's your hot honey.
  2. Mix 2 tbsp of the hot honey with the soy sauce and crushed garlic to make a glaze.
  3. Cut the salmon into four pieces, pat it dry and brush it with the glaze. Toss the long-stem broccoli with the olive oil and salt.
  4. Put the salmon and broccoli in the air fryer basket and cook both at 200 °C for 9 to 10 min, until the salmon is just no longer translucent in the middle.
  5. Drizzle the rest of the hot honey over the salmon and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  6. Serve the salmon and broccoli with the rice and lime wedges.

Good to know

Hot honey – honey with chilli – was the most searched recipe on Google in Austria in 2025 and now ends up on pizza, cheese and chicken. The sweet and spicy mix works especially well on salmon. In the air fryer, the fish is ready in ten minutes.

Swaps

Salmon → trout (local, same cooking time). long-stem broccoli → broccoli florets or green beans. Basmati rice → brown rice (also provides fibre). Soy sauce → tamari (gluten-free).

Cooking tips

Put the salmon skin side down in the basket and it will stick less. Honey burns quickly – only warm the hot honey, don't boil it.

Storage

Cooked salmon keeps for 2 days in the fridge; leftover hot honey keeps for 4 weeks in a jar.

Allergens

Contains fish, soya, sesame and gluten (soy sauce); no milk, egg or nuts. In pregnancy, cook the salmon right through.
