Ingredients

Method

You’ll need: air fryer · chopping board · knife

  1. Cut a cross into the top of each fig, halfway down, and gently press them open.
  2. Fill each fig with a teaspoon of soft goat's cheese.
  3. Stand the figs upright in the basket and cook them at 180 °C for 6 to 8 minutes without preheating, until the cheese is warm and lightly browned.
  4. Roughly chop the walnuts and pick the thyme leaves.
  5. Drizzle the figs with honey, sprinkle with the walnuts, thyme and a pinch of pepper and serve warm.

Good to know

Sweet, salty and warm: stuffed figs are a dessert that looks like a lot of work and takes less than ten minutes. Just right for as long as there are fresh figs in autumn.

Swaps

Soft goat's cheese → ricotta (milder). Walnuts → pistachios (more colourful). Honey → maple syrup. Thyme → rosemary.

Cooking tips

The figs should be ripe but still firm, otherwise they collapse as they cook. Small silicone moulds keep them upright.

Storage

Best served straight away; filled, uncooked figs keep for a few hours in the fridge, covered.

Allergens

Contains milk and walnuts (tree nuts); no honey for children under one year old, and in pregnancy use pasteurised soft goat's cheese.
